A 21-year-old woman has admitted to stabbing a man in the quiet village of Bishop’s Cleeve, near Cheltenham, last month. Jaimee Saunders, from Minetts Avenue, Bishop’s Cleeve, appeared at Gloucester Crown Court today (28 August) via video link from prison custody to plead guilty to one count of wounding with intent.
The court heard that on 25 July, Saunders unlawfully and maliciously wounded a man, intending to cause grievous bodily harm. Saunders confirmed her identity and entered a guilty plea during the hearing, with no further comments made.
Judge Rupert Lowe adjourned the case and set the sentencing hearing for 25 September. It was revealed that Saunders has a previous record comprising 12 convictions, primarily for driving offences and shoplifting. In 2022, while still considered a juvenile, she was subject to a referral order.

A bail application was refused by Judge Lowe, and Saunders was remanded in custody at HMP Eastwood Park pending sentencing.
The incident occurred shortly after 10 pm on 25 July near the roundabout connecting Finlay Way and Hayfield Way, where police were called following reports of an assault involving a suspected stab wound. Saunders was apprehended at approximately 5:20 am the following morning.
Local residents expressed shock at the event and the presence of armed police in their neighbourhood. Additionally, a woman in her 50s was arrested on suspicion of perverting the course of justice in relation to the incident and remains on police bail.
