Young Talent Ellis Chapman to Climb Aboard Sligo Rovers on Loan from Cheltenham Town

Cheltenham Town’s promising midfielder, Ellis Chapman, is gearing up for a loan move to the League of Ireland Premier Division with Sligo Rovers.

This loan marks Chapman as the third player to depart Cheltenham Town recently, following goalkeeper Max Harris' transition to Weston-super-Mare and midfielder Dan Adshead’s move to AFC Fylde.

Meanwhile, first-year professional Adulai Sambu is currently at Hungerford Town until the season’s end. Additionally, the club’s boss, Darrell Clarke, is looking to streamline the squad, with former Arsenal midfielder James Olayinka available for transfer as well.

Chapman, a 6ft 3in left-footer, has featured in three League One matches for Cheltenham this season, along with four appearances from the bench. He has also been part of four cup games.

Having joined the club from Lincoln City in October 2020, Chapman made 25 appearances in all competitions during the 2020/21 League Two title-winning campaign. His previous season saw him on loan at Oldham Athletic, where he appeared in 24 National League matches.

Notably, Sligo Rovers previously secured left wing-back Reece Hutchinson from Cheltenham after a successful loan spell. Moreover, last January, Cheltenham Town’s Aidan Keena signed with the club from Sligo.

Cheltenham Town is preparing to face Carlisle United away in League One on Saturday (3 pm).
