Hannah Elmes, a young woman from Gloucestershire, was given a devastating diagnosis of leukaemia after complaining of chronic fatigue. Just months after receiving this news, she passed away in September 2024 at the age of 21.
Her childhood best friend, Harry Ashcroft, recalled the shattering moment when he learned of Hannah’s diagnosis. Despite the physical distance between them, he treasured memories of their enduring friendship, describing her as a vibrant presence who brought joy to those around her.
Recalling their shared childhood and the simple pleasures they enjoyed, Harry reflected on the deep and lasting connection they shared. Even as they grew older, their bond remained unbroken, and he now seeks to honor her memory by embarking on a challenging 180-mile walk from his university home in Liverpool to Hannah’s residence in South Cerney, Gloucestershire. This heartfelt tribute is set to take place on Hannah’s birthday, June 23, 2025.
