Cheltenham Town are close to finalizing loan deals for two Wrexham players, midfielder Harry Ashfield and forward Mo Faal, ahead of Monday’s 7pm transfer deadline.
Nineteen-year-old Ashfield, who has made his Championship debut for Wrexham in a 2-0 victory over Blackburn Rovers on January 1, has also impressed by scoring in an EFL Cup win against Preston this season.
His teammate Mo Faal could soon join Cheltenham as well. The 6ft 5in Gambian striker spent the first half of the season on loan at League One’s Port Vale. Faal developed through West Brom’s youth system and has had loan spells with Hereford, Telford United, AFC Fylde, Doncaster Rovers, and Walsall. He made a permanent move to Wrexham in 2024.

Faal boasts a strong goal-scoring record, netting six goals in nine League Two starts and 11 substitute appearances for Walsall. At Doncaster, he scored ten goals across 26 starts and seven substitute appearances in all competitions.
Cheltenham manager Steve Cotterill has previously secured forward Jake Bickerstaff on loan from Wrexham this season, a deal that has recently been made permanent. The Robins have also strengthened their squad with the arrivals of George Nurse, Cole Deeming, and Josh Davison.
Midfielder Deeming joined Cheltenham on loan from West Brom, while forward Davison arrived from Tranmere Rovers on a temporary basis, both until the end of the season. Meanwhile, left-back Nurse signed a permanent contract until the summer after leaving Shrewsbury Town earlier this month.
