‘World-class’ - Gloucester Rugby Confirm Signing of British and Irish Lions Flanker Jac Morgan

Gloucester Rugby has secured the signing of Wales captain and British & Irish Lions flanker Jac Morgan from Ospreys, ahead of the 2026/27 season. Director of Rugby George Skivington described Morgan as “a genuinely world-class rugby player” whose presence will significantly strengthen the Cherry and Whites.

At 25 years old, Morgan is a versatile back-row forward known for his relentless work rate in both attack and defense. He has built an impressive reputation through over 70 senior appearances for Welsh clubs Scarlets and Ospreys. His leadership qualities shone early when he captained the Wales U20s, earning him a senior Wales squad call-up in 2022 and a winning debut against Scotland.

Recognised for his leadership skills, Morgan was appointed co-captain of the Wales senior team alongside Dewi Lake during the 2023 Rugby World Cup. He also earned selection for the prestigious British & Irish Lions tour to Australia last summer, where he was named Player of the Match against the Queensland Reds and contributed off the bench in the test series against the Wallabies.

Skivington praised Morgan’s commitment, noting he chose Gloucester despite multiple offers, highlighting the club’s ambition and strong programme at Kingsholm. “Jac’s impact on teams he’s joined has been significant, and we’re excited to integrate him into our squad for next season and beyond,” said Skivington.

Morgan’s departure from Ospreys comes amidst uncertainty following the Welsh Rugby Union’s decision to reduce professional sides from four to three, placing the region’s future in question.

Expressing his enthusiasm, Morgan stated, “I’m delighted to sign for Gloucester Rugby next season. It’s a great club with passionate supporters, and I’ve heard highly of the environment from current players. I’m eager to embrace the challenge of competing in the Gallagher Premiership.”
