Amy Robinson, 20, recently visited Jeremy Clarkson’s country pub, The Farmer’s Dog, located in Asthall near Burford, Oxfordshire. Clarkson, well-known for his Amazon Prime series “Clarkson’s Farm,” describes the pub as a “proper British boozer.” While Amy rated the food a perfect “10/10” and called it “delicious,” many Brits were taken aback by the cost of dining there.
In a TikTok video that has garnered over 50,000 views, Amy shared her experience, showcasing the pub’s charming outdoor seating and beautifully presented dishes. However, the focus soon shifted to the steep prices, sparking a lively debate among viewers.
When asked about pricing, Amy revealed, “I had the sausage of the day and it was £21.00.” Others chimed in with their experiences: a pie costing around £24.00, fancy sausage and mash dishes near £20, and drinks averaging about £7 each.

Locals from Oxfordshire seemed accustomed to the pricing, while visitors from other areas expressed surprise and even shock at the cost. Some commenters considered the prices typical for a country pub, but many felt they were excessive, describing the prices as “insane.”
According to The Farmer’s Dog’s website, menu prices vary: a steak pie is £24.00, a gammon steak costs £22.00, and pints average around £6.75 depending on the drink. Despite the high prices, patrons have praised the quality, service, and atmosphere, insisting the experience is “worth every penny.” Several customers highlighted the use of locally sourced products and shared their eagerness to return.
Jeremy Clarkson’s venture into pub ownership is featured in Season 4 of “Clarkson’s Farm,” which follows his ambitious project to transform a pub and bring his farm-to-fork restaurant vision to life. Since opening its doors in August last year, The Farmer’s Dog has attracted fans and food lovers alike, drawn by Clarkson’s unique approach and reputation.
Clarkson explained at the pub’s launch that buying an existing pub was more feasible than building a restaurant from scratch, marking a new chapter in his farming and hospitality journey.
