A woman in her 30s suffered a fractured jaw after being punched in the face near a bus stop in Gloucester.
The incident occurred around 6:40pm on Tuesday, 25 August, close to a bus stop on Robert Raikes Avenue. Gloucestershire Police reported that earlier, at approximately 6:30pm, the same man is believed to have damaged the woman’s phone while they were on the number 9 Stagecoach bus travelling from Gloucester to Tuffley.
Following the attack, the victim was taken to Gloucestershire Royal Hospital by police where she underwent surgery. It is understood that the individuals involved were known to each other.

A 41-year-old man from Gloucester was subsequently arrested on suspicion of assault and criminal damage. He has since been released on bail under certain conditions while inquiries continue.
Police have reviewed CCTV footage from the area and identified possible witnesses who were passing the bus stop at the time. One is described as a white woman with brown hair, wearing glasses, a blue short-sleeved top, grey cargo-style trousers, and black trainers. Another potential witness is described as a Black woman with her hair in a bun, dressed in a black dress, blue denim jacket, and black sandals. She was accompanied by a child, estimated to be around 12 years old. The footage shows this woman positioning herself between the man and the victim, looking towards the injured woman.
Officers are also keen to speak to anyone who may have witnessed an incident involving a man and woman on the number 9 bus.
