A woman was left startled during her train journey when she spotted a ‘big cat’ resembling a black panther squatting near the railway. Janice Wonnacott, a 68-year-old from Greet, near Cheltenham, witnessed the unusual sight while traveling to Oxford on the 17:14 train from Evesham last Tuesday.
Describing the feline, Wonnacott noted its muscular build and observed it squatting before standing up with a distinctly feline tail. Despite her astonishment, she was elated to have had such a rare encounter. Upon arriving home, she conducted research but found no similar sightings or sculptures in the area that could explain the creature.
Notably, in 2014, there were reports of a black puma-like sculpture in a nearby backyard, which led to similar sightings by train commuters. Sightings of big cats are not uncommon in Gloucestershire and surrounding regions.
