A woman who admitted to creating hundreds of child sexual abuse images has been sentenced to prison after violating a court-issued Sexual Harm Prevention Order. Samantha Franklin, 35, initially received a suspended sentence and a 10-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order in December. However, just days after the order was issued, she was arrested on January 13 for breaching it on five separate occasions.
Appearing before Swindon Magistrates' Court, Franklin pleaded guilty to five counts of breaching the order. She was subsequently sentenced to 50 weeks in prison and ordered to pay a £187 surcharge. Franklin resides in Cove House Gardens, Ashton Keynes, near Cirencester.
Detective Constable Jason Walsh from the Child Internet Exploitation Team expressed satisfaction with the sentence, emphasizing Franklin’s continuous offending despite the original court ruling. He stated, “She has shown a total disregard for the court system and seems to have underestimated the seriousness of her offences and the Sexual Harm Prevention Order she was issued.” Walsh added that he hopes Franklin will use her prison term to reflect on her actions, reaffirming that such behaviour is unacceptable in society.
