Sandra Chubb, a 78-year-old who once lived in Gloucester’s Forest View Road, has been receiving Christmas cards from an old friend every year but can’t seem to write back. The friend, Sylvia Provins, who used to live nearby, mysteriously relocated around five years ago without leaving a forwarding address.
After moving to Cornwall in 1996 and then settling in France a decade later, Sandra kept in touch with Sylvia during her visits to Tuffley. However, since relocating homes in recent years, she has been unable to reconnect directly, despite receiving Sylvia’s annual holiday greetings.
“Every year, I get her card, but I have no way to reply,” Sandra said. “The last time I saw her was about 15 years ago, and although she mentioned moving five years ago, she didn’t give me her new address.”

Sandra fears that her friend might think she’s no longer interested in maintaining their bond. “It’s painful to think she might believe I’m neglecting her,” she said. “She was such a kind and lovely neighbour. I just wish someone knew where she was so I could write or even talk to her.”
