Police are urging the owner of a dog involved in an attack to come forward following an incident at Woodchester Park, near Nailsworth in Stroud earlier this month.
On Wednesday, 9 September, at approximately 3pm, a dog reportedly attacked another dog along the footpath near the first lake within the National Trust park.
The attacking dog had been playing fetch with its owner before running up a bank and biting a Labradoodle. The Labradoodle’s owner attempted to intervene and was subsequently bitten on the hand, sustaining serious injuries.

The dog attack reportedly lasted for some time, and due to fear and shock, the owner of the Labradoodle left the scene without obtaining the contact details of the other dog owner.
Police investigators are therefore appealing for the owner of the attacking dog to come forward. They are also seeking information from any witnesses to the event.
The dog involved in the attack is described as a fit and athletic young crossbreed with long legs, short brindle-coloured hair, a straight tail, and possibly a broad head and pointed nose. It may have been called Benjy.
The owner is described as a woman in her late 30s or early 40s, with long black hair, a slim build, and possibly mixed heritage. She was carrying a slip lead-a type of slip-on collar worn by dogs-at the time.
The victim required hospital treatment and underwent surgery on her hand. Her dog was also treated by a vet for puncture wounds.
