Emergency services responded to a house fire on Elmgrove Road West in Hardwicke shortly before 4am on Sunday, 16 August. Gloucestershire Police, alongside fire and ambulance crews, attended the scene where a woman in her 90s was found unconscious inside the property.
Despite efforts from emergency responders, who administered CPR at the scene, the woman was sadly pronounced dead. Police have confirmed that her next of kin have been informed of her passing.
Following the incident, a woman in her 60s from Gloucester was arrested on suspicion of murder and arson with intent to endanger life. She remains in police custody awaiting questioning.

Authorities have stated that those involved were known to each other and that the incident appears to be isolated. A police cordon was established in the early hours and remains in place as investigations continue at the address.
