Emergency services responded to a house fire on Elmgrove Road West in Hardwicke shortly before 4am on Sunday, 16 August. Gloucestershire Police, alongside fire and ambulance crews, attended the scene where a woman in her 90s was found unconscious inside the property.
Despite immediate CPR efforts by emergency responders, the elderly woman was sadly pronounced dead at the scene. Gloucestershire Police have confirmed that her next of kin have been notified.
A woman in her 60s from Gloucester has been arrested on suspicion of murder and arson with intent to endanger life in connection with the incident. She remains in police custody this morning for questioning.

Authorities have stated that those involved were known to one another and that the events appear to be an isolated incident. A cordon established in the early hours remains in place as investigations continue at the address.
