A tragic collision near Stonehouse claimed the life of a 79-year-old woman this afternoon. Gloucestershire Police responded to a serious crash on the B4008 Gloucester Road in Standish at 12:55 pm involving two vehicles: a green Nissan Micra and a grey Vauxhall Astra.
The elderly female driver of the Nissan Micra, a Gloucester resident, was treated onsite by paramedics but unfortunately succumbed to her injuries. Her family has been informed and is receiving support from specially trained officers.
A 43-year-old Gloucester man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving, as well as driving without a license and without insurance. He is currently in police custody.

To facilitate a thorough police investigation, the B4008 Gloucester Road is closed from the junction near the Javelin Park incinerator to Horsemarling Lane. Authorities expect the closures to remain in place for several hours and advise motorists to seek alternative routes.
Police are appealing for any witnesses to the crash who have not yet come forward to contact them, referencing incident number 199 of 30 March.
