A tragic accident on the B4008 Gloucester Road in Standish near Stonehouse has claimed the life of a 79-year-old woman. The collision occurred at approximately 12:55 pm involving two vehicles: a green Nissan Micra and a grey Vauxhall Astra.
Emergency services responded quickly, and paramedics attended to the Nissan Micra’s driver at the scene. Despite their efforts, the woman, a Gloucester resident, succumbed to her injuries. Gloucestershire Police confirmed that her next of kin have been notified and are receiving support from specially trained officers.
Authorities arrested a 43-year-old man from Gloucester in connection with the incident. He faces charges including causing death by dangerous driving, driving without a license, and driving without insurance. He is currently in police custody.

Police have closed the B4008 Gloucester Road from the junction of the Javelin Park incinerator to Horsemarling Lane to allow a thorough investigation. The road closures are expected to last several hours, and drivers are advised to plan alternate routes and avoid the area if possible.
Anyone who witnessed the crash but has not yet contacted the police is urged to come forward, referencing incident number 199 of March 30.
