Woman dies in collision involving broken down car and van on Wiltshire dual carriageway

A tragic collision on the A419 dual carriageway in Wiltshire has claimed the life of a woman in her 30s. The accident occurred at approximately 8:30 am yesterday on the northbound side near the White Hart roundabout in Swindon, where a van collided with a broken down car.

Emergency responders declared the woman deceased at the scene. Wiltshire Police confirmed that the woman’s next of kin have been informed and are receiving support from specially trained officers during this difficult time.

The van driver escaped with no serious injuries. Authorities reported that no arrests have been made in connection with the crash.

Following the incident, the A419 was temporarily closed in both directions but the southbound carriageway has since reopened. The Serious Collision Investigation Team is appealing for witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage to contact them at 01225 694597, referencing log number 61 of June 5, 2026.
