Woman Dies After Collision on Stroud A46

A woman in her 90s has tragically died following a road traffic collision on the A46 near Stroud earlier this month.

The incident occurred at approximately 1:35 pm on Monday, January 12, on Painswick Road in Pitchcombe. Emergency services responded to a collision involving a silver Suzuki Alto and a red Toyota Aygo.

The occupants of the Suzuki Alto were transported to Southmead Hospital in Bristol for medical treatment. Sadly, the female passenger, who was from the Cheltenham area, passed away at the hospital two days later on January 14. The driver of the Suzuki, a man in his 70s, has since been released from hospital.

The Toyota driver was examined at the scene by paramedics but did not require further medical treatment.

Following the collision, police temporarily closed the road to conduct investigations and reopened it once the vehicles were cleared. Gloucestershire Constabulary is now appealing for witnesses to come forward. Those with information or dashcam footage related to the crash are encouraged to contact police through an online form, quoting incident number 225 of January 12.
