A tragic incident occurred on Monday, December 22, when a woman in her 70s was fatally struck by a white van on the A44 at Chadbury. Emergency services responded promptly after receiving the call around 7:40 am, but sadly, the pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver, a 54-year-old woman, was arrested on suspicion of causing death by careless driving. She has since been released under investigation as inquiries continue.
West Mercia Police have appealed for witnesses to come forward. Sergeant Emma Breay expressed condolences to the victim’s family and emphasized the importance of gathering more information. She stated, “Our thoughts and condolences are with the family and loved ones of the woman who sadly passed away. They are being supported by specially trained officers at this difficult time. An arrest was made at the scene, and that person is assisting with our enquiries. We urge anyone who witnessed the collision, has dashcam footage, or saw a woman walking along the road prior to the incident to contact us.”
