A woman was subjected to a physical and verbal attack in Cheltenham on Friday afternoon. According to Gloucestershire Police, a man was seen grabbing a woman by the throat and verbally abusing her near the Queens Hotel on The Promenade. Members of the public intervened and restrained the man until authorities arrived.
The incident occurred between 4.30pm and 5pm on 21 August. Police later arrested a man in his 50s on suspicion of common assault. He has been released on conditional bail as inquiries continue.
Officers believe the incident may have been recorded by bystanders. They are appealing for anyone who witnessed the event or has video footage to come forward.
