Will Kirk Turned to Alan Titchmarsh for Help with His Struggling Garden

Will Kirk, the antiques expert from BBC’s The Repair Shop, recently shared how gardening icon Alan Titchmarsh offered to help him with his garden during a challenging time. The 41-year-old lives in the Surrey countryside with his wife Polly and their two children.

After spending nearly four decades in London, Will and Polly made the move to the countryside, turning their Victorian property into a family sanctuary. The decision was influenced by the demands of Will’s TV work, which often required him to stay away during the week.

Despite living in the rural home for a couple of years, Will admitted his garden remained a “work in progress.” In an interview with House Beautiful, he described the ongoing battle to revive dusty, dry grass and manage invasive plants from a neighbour’s garden that threatened his roses.

“Alan Titchmarsh lives nearby and kindly offered to come take a look,” Will said. “I told him I’d get the garden to a decent level first, and then I’d be ready for his expert advice on flowers and plants.”

Will’s passion for gardening has grown over time, especially since moving from a London flat that only had a small balcony with dying plants. He revealed he’s been watching Alan’s online gardening tutorials to learn the basics, appreciating how approachable the craft seems.

While Polly was insistent that the interior of their home take priority before tackling the garden, Will admits he was eager to get outside and fix the space that had visible damage, including a large brown patch left by a previous hot tub.

With Alan Titchmarsh’s guidance on the horizon, Will Kirk’s garden is set to flourish as much as his passion for restoration.
