Cheltenham Town return to action this Friday, hosting Barrow in a League Two fixture. Despite the match being scheduled for a prime Friday night slot, it will not be televised by Sky Sports.
Since the start of last season, Sky Sports has significantly expanded its coverage of EFL matches under a new TV rights agreement. The broadcaster regularly selects weekend games for live coverage, including all opening and closing day fixtures, every bank holiday match, the entire Carabao Cup schedule, and numerous midweek league contests.
However, the Cheltenham Town versus Barrow game was not chosen for live broadcast by Sky. Instead of moving the fixture to accommodate TV coverage, the match was scheduled for a 7:45 pm kick-off on Friday night following an arrangement between the two clubs. This decision reflects usual practices where some games remain off television despite high-profile fixtures broadcast each week.
