National Highways has announced partial overnight closures of the A417 Missing Link road starting tonight, Monday 5 October. Between 9pm and 6am on Tuesday, 6 October, the road will be closed in both directions over a three-mile section between the A46 Brockworth Junction and Shab Hill junction.
This stretch will also be closed overnight from 9pm on Monday, 12 October until 6am on Friday, 16 October. A 10-mile official diversion route will be in place, diverting traffic off the A417 at the A46 Brockworth Junction, continuing along the A46 Shurdington Road towards Cheltenham, then via the A435 Cirencester Road to the Ullenwood Junction along the A436.
Additionally, for the remainder of this week, the A417 will be closed overnight between Shab Hill junction and A429 Burford Road. This 10-mile closure will run between 9pm and 6am from Tuesday, 6 October through Friday, 9 October. The road will also be closed all weekend from 11pm on Friday, 9 October until 6am on Monday, 12 October.

During this period, a 21-mile diversion will be in place. Traffic will leave the A417 at Ullenwood Junction, travel along the A436 and A40 to near Northleach, then continue down the A429 Stow Road to Burford Road, the other end of the closure.
These scheduled closures follow a significant milestone recently achieved on the A417 Missing Link project, which has improved the route between Gloucester and Cirencester, allowing drivers to bypass the former Air Balloon roundabout entirely.
