A Gloucester man has traded his career as a car salesman for a new and exciting role: ice cream man. Shaun Rowe, 31, from Hardwicke, is now living his childhood dream, traveling across the county spreading joy with his delicious ice cream treats.
Shaun launched his business, The Ice Cream Man Gloucester, last year, and he’s already become a local favorite. Alongside serving generous portions of ice cream, he has introduced a fun challenge: customers can attempt to finish a giant 99 Flake and cone in under one minute for a chance to win a free tray of ice cream.
Recently, a local mother who buys her son an ice cream from Shaun every day took on the challenge—and crushed it in just 30 seconds. Her impressive feat was captured on video, which Shaun posted to TikTok, where it has since racked up over one million views. Fans around the world have been amazed by her speed and skill.

Shaun shared his story: “I started this business last year after realizing during Covid that I wanted a change. Before that, I was working as a car salesman. I’ve always loved the idea of being an ice cream man—when I was growing up in Wiltshire, I used to tag along with the ice cream man in my neighborhood. It was a wonderful way to spend time, travel around, and I knew it was something I wanted to do one day.”
Shaun’s menu features popular homemade ice creams like his strawberry tubs and the colorful Rainbow Unicorn, each served with plenty of toppings and sauces. His loyal customers appreciate the generous portions and friendly service.
“The challenge adds a bit of extra fun,” Shaun says. “When the mum completed it so quickly, I just had to share it. With her permission, I posted the video, and the response has been incredible.”
Looking ahead to summer, Shaun is excited to meet more customers and keep the good times rolling. He encourages anyone interested to check his Facebook page or contact him directly to find out where the ice cream van will be next.
