Warning to Visitors: Be Mindful of Parking in Bibury, Cotswolds

Visitors heading to Bibury in the Cotswolds this bank holiday weekend are being cautioned about the challenges of finding parking in the small, picturesque village. The historic charm of Bibury has drawn tourists from around the globe, with its famous Arlington Row and unique Cotswolds allure. However, the surge in visitors has strained the village’s capacity, particularly in terms of parking.

The Cotswold District Council has issued a plea for responsible enjoyment of Bibury and urges visitors to park only in designated areas, such as the pay and display parking at Bibury Trout Farm. Illegally parked vehicles that obstruct driveways, verges, or emergency access routes will be targeted by Gloucestershire Police and Traffic Enforcement Officers over the holiday weekend.

In response to the ongoing issue, suggestions have been put forth on the council’s Facebook page. Proposals range from implementing park and ride systems to limiting non-local parking durations to alleviate the pressures facing the village and its residents.

While the council strives to find a balance between preserving the village’s appeal and managing visitor numbers, the overarching message is for visitors to be considerate and explore alternative hidden gems in the Cotswolds should parking in Bibury be unavailable.
