Residents in Gloucestershire have been urged to keep their windows and doors closed as a significant fire sends dense black smoke billowing across the skyline. The blaze erupted on Monday afternoon, July 14, in a shed near Moreton Valence, just south of Hardwicke.
Firefighters responded promptly to the scene on Hiltmead Lane, where the shed – storing a large quantity of tyres – caught fire around 4:30 PM. The tyres are producing heavy smoke, creating a hazardous environment for nearby villagers.
Gloucestershire Fire and Rescue Service reported that five fire appliances are currently battling the blaze. Two units came from Gloucester North, while single crews arrived from Cheltenham East, Stroud, and Nailsworth.
