Residents near Gloucester are raising alarms over speeding vehicles on village roads that have become a persistent safety concern. Hucclecote locals, grappling with speeding traffic, excessive noise, and pollution, are being invited to their parish’s annual assembly to discuss these urgent issues.
Recent surveys on Hucclecote Road and Lobleys Drive reveal a troubling pattern: one in seven vehicles exceeded the speed limit, with Lobleys Drive already recognized for its dangers. Councillor Chas Townley emphasized the importance of community involvement, encouraging residents to join the local Speedwatch group.
“Speeding remains a significant problem on these roads,” Cllr Townley said. “By partnering with the police, Speedwatch volunteers can conduct regular speed checks and help ensure that drivers who break the limit receive warning letters from authorities.”

The parish council is also exploring the possibility of installing community speed cameras to capture license details of speeding motorists, aiming to deter reckless driving.
The upcoming parish assembly, held at Pineholt Village Hall on May 19 from 6.30pm to 7.30pm, will feature Deputy Police and Crime Commissioner Nick Evans, local police officers, and newly elected county councillor Ben Evans. They will address residents’ concerns and discuss potential solutions.
“This meeting is an open invitation for all residents to share their views and help shape safer roads for our community,” said a parish council spokesperson.
