Temporary traffic management will be in place for up to two months on a road near Nailsworth as essential work on gas pipes is carried out. Wales & West Utilities is investing over £7.5 million to upgrade gas infrastructure across Gloucestershire over the next two years, touching areas including Stroud, Chalford, Minchinhampton, and Nailsworth.
Starting on Monday, 7 September, the next phase of works will commence in the Horsley Hill area near the village of Horsley, close to The Hog pub. The project is expected to be completed by 5 November, coinciding with Bonfire Night, provided all goes as scheduled. Throughout this period, traffic management measures will be in place, including multi-way traffic lights.
Initially, three-way traffic lights will be installed at the junction of Horsley Hill and Narrowcut Lane. As the work progresses, these will be reduced to two-way lights along Horsley Hill itself. While short-term road closures may also be necessary, drivers are advised to allow extra travel time during the works.

These essential upgrades aim to ensure the safe and reliable delivery of gas to homes and businesses in the area, supporting residents’ heating needs for many years. The wider mains replacement programme will upgrade nearly 26 kilometres of gas pipes, benefiting around 2,600 customers in Gloucestershire.
