USAF Showcases F-15E and F-35A Jets at RIAT 2025, Affirming Commitment to European Defense

The United States Air Force is prominently participating in the Royal International Air Tattoo (RIAT) 2025 at RAF Fairford to underscore its commitment to European defense. The event, which began on Friday, July 18, and runs through the weekend, has drawn sold-out crowds eager to witness a spectacular assembly of over 160 aircraft from more than 26 countries.

With the theme “Eyes in the Skies,” RIAT 2025 celebrates aviation’s critical role in a variety of domains including aerial surveillance, early warning systems, maritime patrol, search and rescue, reconnaissance, signals intelligence, and overall security operations. The U.S. Air Forces in Europe - Air Forces Africa is showcasing advanced fighter jets such as the F-35A Lightning II and F-15E Strike Eagle, both deployed from the renowned 48th Fighter Wing stationed at RAF Lakenheath, England.

In addition to these cutting-edge fighters, American contributions this year include the U-2S Dragon Lady from the 9th Reconnaissance Wing at Beale Air Force Base, California, and the RC-135V/W Rivet Joint from the 55th Wing at Offutt Air Force Base, Nebraska. A B-1B Lancer bomber from the 28th Bomb Wing based at Ellsworth AFB, South Dakota, also arrived at RAF Fairford. However, disappointment arose when the B-1B was grounded and did not perform a scheduled fly-past, limiting its participation to static display only.

The USAF highlighted that such engagements at RIAT foster international military cooperation and goodwill. “Events like RIAT break down barriers and strengthen the bonds between allied and partner nation forces, allowing our Airmen to learn from each other and reinforce the U.S. commitment to European security,” the USAF stated.

RIAT 2025 stands as a vivid demonstration of aviation’s strategic importance and the ongoing dedication of the United States to supporting collective defense efforts in Europe and beyond.
