While Glastonbury typically showcases headline acts, an unexpected star has captured the nation’s imagination—James B Partridge, a primary school teacher turned viral sensation. Following his acclaimed appearance closing the fields at Glastonbury last summer, James is bringing his popular Primary School Bangers tour to audiences across the UK.
James, who teaches music in primary schools, gained widespread acclaim for his nostalgic performances featuring timeless assembly songs like “He’s Got the Whole World in His Hands” and “Give Me Oil in My Lamp.” What began as lighthearted singalongs for his students during lockdown quickly morphed into a nationwide phenomenon, captivating audiences with the familiar melodies of childhood.
Having sold out multiple venues in 2024 and performed his Big Christmas Assembly tour to tens of thousands, James now embarks on his most ambitious Primary School Bangers tour yet. The tour kicks off in Coventry and stops at the sold-out Gloucester Guildhall on Saturday, February 28. For those missing out on tickets, James will also perform at the Wychwood Festival in Cheltenham this May.

James reflects on the charm of his shows: “A lot of us have really fond memories of our primary school days—they’re carefree, unlike the worries we carry now. The pure innocence of these childhood songs brings a powerful sense of nostalgia.”
His live shows mix beloved singalongs with infectious joy, making them a hit with audiences spanning all ages. James’s appeal has been further bolstered by appearances on Chris Evans' Virgin Radio Breakfast Show, BBC Radio 2, The One Show, and Songs of Praise: The Big School Assembly Singalong. His blend of humor, heart, and harmony resonates deeply, reminding us all of simpler times.
