Unbreakable Bond: Twin Brothers Thrive Together at Cheltenham Retirement Village

Sibling bonds are often treasured, but the connection between twin brothers Colin and Graham Biggs in Cheltenham is truly extraordinary. At 74 years old, the Biggs twins have spent over seven decades side by side, their lives intertwined by an unbreakable bond.

Both residents of Richmond Villages retirement community in Cheltenham, Colin and Graham have shared nearly every milestone together—from their competitive sporting achievements to their daily routines today. Whether it was passing their driving tests on the same day, completing jobs simultaneously, or earning identical exam grades, their journey has been marked by remarkable synchronicity and mutual support.

Born and raised in Cheltenham, the twins pursued careers as carpenters and joiners, working alongside one another throughout their professional lives. Their shared passion for sports also led them to notable success; they played for Tewkesbury Cricket Club, where their teammates could only tell them apart by their distinct batting stances. They also represented their county in badminton doubles championships, traveling across the country with their devoted mother supporting them at every match.

Throughout their lives, Colin and Graham have been part of memorable moments unique to twins. As children, they earned a complimentary Butlins holiday and featured in a photoshoot at Cheltenham Cinema with fellow twins. Later, they were among only three pairs of male twins invited to the prestigious 25th Anniversary Twins Gathering at London’s St Thomas Hospital—a world record event that attracted national media attention. Over the years, they’ve also contributed to medical research on twins.

While they share many similarities, subtle differences remain: one prefers lemon curd, and Colin often takes the lead in decision-making. But above all, their steadfast devotion to each other defines their relationship. Reflecting on their bond, Colin said, “We do everything together and have shared an extraordinary life. I couldn’t be more grateful to always have my brother by my side.” Graham added, “Being a twin is very special. We know each other inside out, lift each other up, and laugh every day.”

Those around them describe the brothers as warm, well-liked, and endlessly good-humoured. Cara Wood, manager of Richmond Villages Cheltenham, noted, “The twins bring wonderful energy to the village. Everyone loves seeing them together; they spread smiles wherever they go.”

Most recently, Colin and Graham celebrated National Sibling Day at the village, a fitting tribute to a lifetime of incomparable friendship and love.
