UKHSA Urges 12 Groups to Get Flu Jab as NHS Expands Access

The UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) has issued an important message urging 12 specific groups of people to receive their annual flu vaccination. This year, the NHS has expanded the flu jab program, making it accessible to even more individuals who are at higher risk of severe flu complications.

The groups advised to get vaccinated include young children, older adults, pregnant women, those with certain long-term health conditions, and frontline healthcare workers, among others. Receiving the flu jab not only helps protect individuals but also reduces the spread of flu within the community, safeguarding vulnerable populations.

The UKHSA emphasizes the importance of getting vaccinated as flu can lead to serious illness and hospitalizations, especially during the ongoing challenges posed by respiratory viruses. Vaccination is safe, free for eligible groups, and widely available at GP practices, pharmacies, and some workplaces.
