Weather maps indicate that a significant portion of the UK is set to be covered in snow next month. WXCharts' latest data suggests that 85 counties are expected to experience snowfall during the forthcoming cold snap.
Snow is mapped across all of Scotland, Wales, the majority of England, and some parts of Northern Ireland from noon on Saturday, April 12. In England, regions north of Birmingham are predicted to be affected, with up to 2cm of snow forecasted in certain areas.
However, most of the south is forecast to avoid any white stuff, with the exception of Cornwall and Devon. Northern Wales could see as much as 5cm of snow per hour, while western parts of Northern Ireland may also feel the impact.

The Met Office does not have any mention of ‘snow’ in its long-range weather maps for the UK for April. It does say there could be some overnight frosts in the first half of the month and some cooler interludes with the potential for warmer conditions.
Snow fell in Gloucestershire last month during the Cheltenham Festival. Heavy snow settled on Wednesday, March 12 in the early morning but had disappeared by mid-morning.
The weather forecast for the upcoming days indicates plenty of sunshine for much of the UK. It is expected to turn breezy in the south and west, with warm conditions in the sunshine but fresh in the breeze, especially along coasts.
High pressure is anticipated to dominate UK weather from Saturday, April 5 to Monday, April 14, with mostly settled and dry conditions. The latter part of April may see fine and dry weather with potential interludes of rain or showers, particularly affecting southern and western parts of the UK.
The overall temperatures are expected to be around or slightly above average, with warm inland conditions during the day and possible chilly nights under clear skies.
