UK-Iranian Man Arrested on Terrorism Suspicion Following RAF Fairford Incident

A 25-year-old man, holding both UK and Iranian citizenship, has been arrested in London on suspicion of preparing terrorist acts linked to the recent incident near RAF Fairford.

Counter-terrorism police confirmed the arrest took place in the Borough of Westminster under section 5 of the Terrorism Act. The suspect is currently being held as the investigation continues.

This arrest follows the earlier detention of five men aged between 23 and 25, all UK nationals from London. They were initially arrested after three vans, described as suspicious, were seen travelling towards the air base on Sunday.

The five men were released on police bail following their arrest on Monday, amid investigations into explosives and terrorism offences.

Senior counter-terrorism officers stated on Tuesday that no improvised explosive devices had been found in connection with the vans at RAF Fairford. However, a quantity of petrol was recovered during searches.

Authorities continue to assess the situation and maintain heightened security measures in the area.
