UK Heatwave Alert: West Country to Reach 30°C by July 28

England is on track to experience another heatwave later this month, with temperatures expected to climb as high as 30°C in parts of the West Country. Forecasts from WX Charts, utilizing the advanced GFS weather model, indicate that Somerset, Wiltshire, and Hampshire will bear the brunt of this heat, reaching peak temperatures on July 28.

Nearby counties including Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Hertfordshire, Gloucestershire, Oxfordshire, and London are also forecast to see warm conditions, with highs approaching 29°C. The Met Office’s outlook from July 18 to July 28 suggests a variable weather pattern across the UK.

Meteorologists describe the upcoming period as initially unsettled but likely to stabilize somewhat after the first weekend, leading to spells of dry, sunny weather. This settled weather may stretch over several days, though it will be punctuated by intermittent cloudy periods with showers and occasional heavy rainfall. Thunderstorms remain a possibility in some areas.

Temperatures are expected to remain above average for much of the UK, especially in southern and eastern regions where hot conditions may become more frequent. However, the BBC Weather team forecasts that by late July and early August, weather may turn cooler and more changeable due to a shift in pressure systems over the North Atlantic.

Today, conditions start dry and bright but will give way to increasing showers, particularly in northern areas, accompanied by strong winds on hills and coasts, with a maximum temperature of 20°C. Tonight will bring fading showers and clearer skies, though patchy rain may return to western Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly, with lows around 15°C. Wednesday promises mostly dry conditions with sunny spells and temperatures warming to 22°C.

Looking ahead to Thursday through Saturday, warmer weather is expected with a mix of sun and scattered showers. Rainfall will intensify on Saturday, potentially bringing heavy and thundery downpours.
