Two men in their twenties were subjected to racial abuse and physically assaulted by a stranger near the Sainsbury’s Local and the Moon Under Water pub on Cheltenham High Street. The incident occurred at approximately 6.20pm on the evening of Thursday, 13 August.
During the attack, the victims were punched and sustained minor facial injuries. Police confirm that neither required medical treatment.
Officers attended the scene promptly and located a man matching the description given by witnesses. However, he fled on foot and exhibited abusive behaviour towards police personnel.

The suspect is described as a white male with brown hair, wearing a dark blue t-shirt and grey shorts at the time.
A man in his 40s from Cirencester was subsequently arrested on suspicion of assault occasioning actual bodily harm. He was taken into custody for questioning and has since been released on police bail pending further investigation.
