Two men were taken into custody after a confrontation erupted in Gloucester city centre yesterday afternoon, Gloucestershire Police have confirmed.
The incident occurred at approximately 1.45pm on Thursday, September 3, along Station Road. Upon receiving reports of a disturbance, police officers promptly attended the scene.
A 19-year-old man, who is currently of no fixed address, was arrested on suspicion of affray, assaulting a police officer, and racial abuse. The second individual, a 43-year-old Gloucester resident, was arrested on suspicion of affray. Both men have since been released on bail, with investigations ongoing.

Following the altercation, police increased their presence in the area, issuing formal dispersal notices to 12 other individuals who were instructed to leave the vicinity to prevent further disturbances.
To address ongoing concerns, a dispersal order under Section 34 was put into effect around the Transport Hub from 2pm on September 3 until 2pm on Saturday, September 5. This order covers a defined section of the city centre, including Black Dog Way and Gouda Way to the north; Trier Way to the east; Llanthony Road and Castle Meads Way to the west; and St Ann Way and Trier Way to the south.
Under this order, police have the authority to direct anyone whose behaviour risks causing harassment, alarm, or distress to the public to leave the area until the order expires.
Inspector James O’Neill from the Gloucester Neighbourhood Policing Team stated: “We will maintain a visible police presence throughout this area to deter any further anti-social behaviour, ensuring that residents, workers, and visitors can go about their activities without fear.”
