Two Kittens Die in Devastating Gloucester House Fire

A tragic house fire in Gloucester has claimed the lives of two kittens and left a property extensively damaged. The fire broke out shortly before 8pm on Tuesday, January 13, on Shelduck Road in Quedgeley.

Responding swiftly, four fire crews from Gloucester, Stroud, and Dursley arrived at the scene, battling the blaze for over two and a half hours. The fire completely destroyed the ground floor and caused significant damage to the first floor, with 60% affected.

Gloucestershire Fire and Rescue Service confirmed the heartbreaking loss of the two kittens inside the house. The occupants were advised to find alternative accommodation due to heavy smoke damage that rendered the property unsafe.

A spokesperson for the Fire Service stated, “We were called at 7:51pm and deployed two hose reels and four sets of breathing apparatus to control the fire. The cause is currently under investigation, and the fire was declared out at 10:27pm.”

The incident highlights the destructive power of fire and the importance of safety measures in the home.
