The True Crime Museum, located on Hastings' seafront in England, has recently acquired a disturbing new exhibit: the undergarments of serial killer Rose West, who, along with her husband Fred, was responsible for the torture and murder of at least 10 women.
To commemorate the museum’s tenth anniversary, curator Joel Griggs spent a hefty sum of £2,500 to obtain the infamous undergarments, which were worn by West during her time at HMP Bronzefield from 2004 to 2008. The purchase was made possible through a retired prison worker who retrieved the item from a laundry basket and later offered it to the museum.
In addition to West’s undergarments, the museum’s collection includes a variety of chilling artifacts, such as the bathtub used by hitman Bruce Childs to dismember six victims, bottles of acid for dissolving bodies, an array of shanks, and the skull of triple murderer Louis Lefevre. The museum also features items belonging to notorious criminals like the Kray Twins, accumulated by Joel’s father during his time at the Metropolitan Police.

The museum aims to provoke a deeper connection with visitors by exhibiting seemingly mundane items that hold a chilling significance.
Last year marked the 30th anniversary of the apprehension of the Wests, who were captured at their Cromwell Street home in Gloucester, a site of heinous crimes including rape and murder. The couple’s reign of terror came to light in 1987 when the remains of their daughter Heather were discovered under the patio of their backyard. Subsequent grisly discoveries included the remains of their previous tenant and other victims, earning their dwelling the infamous moniker “House of Horrors.”
