Trio Named Following Fatal M5 Crash That Claimed Three Lives

An inquest has opened into a fatal single-vehicle crash on the M5 motorway that resulted in the deaths of three people. The victims have been identified as Andrew Moore, 46, Swala Harling, 47, and Sebastian Moore, 14. The collision occurred around 9 p.m. on May 30, northbound between junction 14 and junction 13 near Michaelwood Services.

The BMW involved veered off the carriageway, leading to the devastating accident. In addition to the three fatalities, another child sustained serious injuries and was hospitalized.

The inquest began on Wednesday, June 18, at Flax Bourton near Bristol. Reports reveal that all three victims were residents of Clay Cross near Chesterfield, Derbyshire.

Inspector Mark Vicary of the roads policing unit expressed his condolences, stating, “Our thoughts are with the child hospitalized and the families affected by this tragic event. A specially trained officer is supporting them during this difficult time.” He commended the emergency services for their professionalism and dedication in handling the complex scene throughout the night.

The police closed the affected stretch of the M5 for most of the day following the crash to conduct a thorough investigation of the scene.

It was confirmed during the coroner’s proceedings that Mr. Moore, a mechanic by profession, was driving the vehicle. Ms. Harling, who worked in IT, occupied the front passenger seat, while Sebastian Moore was seated in the rear.
