A tragic collision claimed the life of a woman in her 80s this afternoon in Bibury, one of the Cotswolds' most renowned villages. The fatal incident occurred just before 12:10 pm on Arlington Pike.
Emergency responders, including Gloucestershire Police officers, quickly arrived at the scene where a car had struck the elderly pedestrian. Despite their efforts, the woman was pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities have informed the woman’s next of kin and are providing support through specially trained officers.

The vehicle’s driver, an 80-year-old man, was transported to Great Western Hospital in Swindon for medical evaluation.
Gloucestershire Police are urging any witnesses or individuals with dashcam footage of the collision to come forward to assist the investigation.
Local road closures remain in effect this evening at key points including the junctions of the B4425, Grove View, and Hay Lane, as emergency crews continue their work.
A spokesperson for Gloucestershire Police stated: “We are investigating a serious collision involving a pedestrian and a vehicle on Arlington Pike in Bibury earlier today. We appeal for anyone with information or footage to contact us, quoting incident 187 of 10 December.”
