Arsenal legend Tony Adams has revealed the reasons behind selling his £4 million Cotswolds estate to Oasis frontman Liam Gallagher. The property, located near Cirencester, was placed on the market in December last year to enable Adams and his wife, Poppy Teacher, to relocate to London, where Poppy will undertake university studies.
Adams, 59, and Poppy, 53, have owned the expansive property since 2002, having reportedly purchased it for approximately half its recent listing price. The estate boasts numerous amenities including a swimming pool, tennis courts, stables, and a separate two-bedroom cottage.
Speaking about the move, Adams told The Mail, “This is a new era for us. We’ve sold the house and are returning to London. My wife is going back to school.”
Poppy, who is preparing to pursue a Master’s degree in early modern history, explained that the decision came after years dedicated to raising their children. “I felt the need to use my brain again,” she said. When she first shared her plans with Adams, he questioned the practicality of studying humanities, asking, “How do you monetise that?” She responded, “You don’t!” Despite this, he is reportedly proud and enthusiastic about her academic ambitions.
The couple share three children: Atticus, Hector, and Iris. Tony Adams also has two children, Oliver and Amber, from his previous marriage to Jane Shea.
Meanwhile, Liam Gallagher has taken up residence in the Cotswolds property. On social media platform X, he praised his new neighbours, saying, “They’re absolutely incredible. They have not stopped baking me cakes and scones.”
Gallagher joins a growing number of celebrities opting for the quiet countryside life in the Cotswolds, alongside figures such as Simon Cowell, the Beckhams, and Kate Moss. Reports suggest that Liam financed the purchase with earnings from Oasis’ Live ‘25 world tour. He now lives at the estate with his fiancée, Debbie Gwyther, and their dog, Buttons.
A source told The Sun, “Liam loves the countryside and the house is the perfect retreat following the mammoth Oasis tour. He’s very fond of his rescue dog Buttons and wanted a home with plenty of outdoor space. He also enjoys hosting and looks forward to welcoming friends and family to the home.”
