Tim Lovejoy Takes Temporary Break from Channel 4’s Sunday Brunch as Co-Host Steps Up

Fans of Channel 4’s Sunday Brunch will notice a change this month as longtime co-host Tim Lovejoy takes a short break from the popular show. On Sunday, June 22, regular co-host Simon Rimmer will be joined by reality star Vicky Pattison as the guest presenter.

Together, Simon and Vicky will welcome a star-studded lineup including comedian Rosie Jones, musician Gavin Rossdale from Bush, and singer Fleur East. Highlights from the upcoming episode also feature comedian Tim Key discussing his new tour, actress Susannah Fielding promoting a production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream, and broadcaster Nicky Campbell talking about his new album. Music performances will include Allie Sherlock.

While the reason behind Tim Lovejoy’s temporary absence remains undisclosed, viewers can expect his return to Sunday Brunch soon. At 57, Tim has been an integral part of the show since it launched in 2012, co-hosting with Simon Rimmer and creating a warm, inviting atmosphere for a wide range of guests. Over the years, the duo has interviewed numerous celebrities such as Josh Groban, Jamie Laing, Emma Bunton, and Netflix star Bre Tiesi.

In 2022, reflecting on his decade of hosting, Tim expressed pride and affection for his role on Sunday Brunch. Speaking to Metro, he said, “I’ve been on TV at the weekend now for 26 years and it feels like I’m part of viewers’ families. People think they know me. The show has evolved over 10 years, especially during the pandemic, when it embraced Zoom guests. It’s a lovely place to work and the guests enjoy it immensely.”

The pandemic ushered in changes to the show’s format, with episodes pre-recorded instead of live broadcasts due to stay-at-home guidelines. Tim acknowledged the challenges of adapting, saying on his podcast, “At first, we hated doing it because we’re used to live TV. It took a while to get the technique right so we didn’t talk over each other.”

Sunday Brunch viewers can look forward to a fresh episode with new dynamics this weekend while eagerly awaiting Tim Lovejoy’s return.
