According to the Met Office forecast, “While many areas will miss the heaviest downpours, heavy showers and thunderstorms are expected to develop during Friday afternoon and evening. The focus of showers and thunderstorms will be northern England and much of Wales initially, extending over central and eastern England later in the afternoon. Thunderstorms are likely to bring 10-20 mm of rain in a short period in some places, with 30-40 mm possible if repeated downpours occur. Additional hazards may include lightning and hail. These conditions are expected to gradually ease during Friday evening.”
