Three More Arrests Made as Man Remains Critical After Swindon Shooting

Police have arrested three additional men in connection with a shooting incident in Swindon that left a man in his 30s in critical condition. The investigation, which began Friday night, has now extended across the West Country.

The victim was rushed to hospital with a suspected gunshot wound on Friday evening in the Gorse Hill area of Swindon. Medical teams have since stabilized him, but he remains in critical condition as he receives treatment.

Initial reports came in just before 9 pm from St Paul’s Street, prompting officers to quickly respond. Five individuals—three men and two teenagers—were initially arrested but have since been released on bail as inquiries continue.

Overnight on Saturday, a 20-year-old man was taken into custody on suspicion of attempted murder. Meanwhile, police in Dorset arrested two more men, aged 19 and 30, on suspicion of conspiracy to murder. These individuals remain in custody for questioning.

The first group of five arrested included a 51-year-old man suspected of attempted murder, a 32-year-old man charged with conspiracy to murder and drug offenses related to Class C substances, as well as three others facing various allegations including assisting an offender and possession with intent to supply nitrous oxide.

Police established multiple cordons around Swindon following the shooting—primarily at St Paul’s Street, Queen’s Drive, and more recently on Farnborough Road in the Park South area, nearly three miles from the shooting scene.
