Three Gloucestershire Pubs Shortlisted for National Pub and Bar Awards 2026

Three outstanding pubs from Gloucestershire have earned coveted spots on the shortlist for the National Pub and Bar Awards 2026, marking them among the best in the UK’s vibrant pub scene.

Now in its tenth year, the awards celebrate excellence across the country’s pubs and bars. The grand ceremony will take place in London on June 10, where 94 winners—including county champions, regional winners, and the ultimate National Pub and Bar of the Year—will be revealed.

Out of 252 Highly Commended pubs and bars shortlisted nationwide, Gloucestershire boasts three distinguished finalists: The Lion Inn in Winchcombe, a charming 15th-century coaching inn; The Bell Inn in Langford, a classic Cotswolds country pub; and the contemporary Dr Foster located in Gloucester Docks, which will celebrate its second anniversary this summer.

These venues offer a diverse experience for visitors. Dr Foster is known for its relaxed brunch atmosphere, while The Lion Inn prides itself on traditional pub fare such as beer-battered fish and chips and seasonal pies. The Bell Inn maintains its reputation as a quintessential country pub, delivering warm hospitality and classic dishes.

At the upcoming awards event, all three pubs will receive certificates recognizing their Highly Commended status in Gloucestershire, leading up to the announcement of the county’s winner.

Liam, area manager at Dr Foster, expressed pride in the nomination: “Being shortlisted again, especially alongside renowned Cotswolds and Gloucester pubs, is a huge honor. Approaching our second birthday, this recognition reflects the dedication of our team and the community’s love for our space.”

Tristan O’Hana, editor of Pub & Bar magazine, which organizes the awards, highlighted the event’s success: “Following the expanded format launched in 2025, we’re thrilled to continue celebrating our industry from Easter through to the summer awards night. These remarkable pubs deserve as much recognition as we can give.”

In addition to county and national accolades, the ceremony will announce the Industry’s Choice Award, selected by a panel of 400 industry judges, as well as the consumer-voted Pub Group of the Year, Bar Group of the Year, and the Tyrrells Tyrrellbly Good Taste Award.
