Three distinguished hotels in the Cotswolds have earned top accolades at the 2026 Good Hotel Guide César Awards, recognized as the pinnacle of achievement in the UK hospitality industry. Celebrated annually, the César Awards are often dubbed the ‘Oscars’ of British hotels, highlighting outstanding destinations across the country.
Among the 21 winners announced on November 18, Abbots Grange, The House of George W Davies, and The Pig in the Cotswolds stood out, capturing titles that showcase their unique charm and excellence.
Abbots Grange, located in Worcestershire’s Broadway, was honored as the Most Romantic Hotel in the UK. This adult-only bed and breakfast, housed in a 14th-century monastic building set within serene parkland, is the oldest property in Broadway. Renowned as a former artists’ colony, it counts Claude Monet, Oscar Wilde, and William Morris among its historic guests. Visitors can unwind by the fire in the Great Hall, adorned with a vaulted ceiling and deep sofas, for a cosy, atmospheric stay starting at £315 per night, bed and breakfast.

The House of George W Davies, also in Broadway, received the Best Foodie Hotel award. After a three-year renovation completed in August 2025 by retail entrepreneur George Davies, this stylish hotel combines contemporary design with original architectural features. Its on-site Moda restaurant, led by Chef James Wilson, offers a Nordic-infused take on modern British cuisine, boasting excellent vegan options. Rates start at £250 per night, bed and breakfast.
In Barnsley, The Pig in the Cotswolds was named Best Hotel with Gardens. This historic 17th-century stone country house, part of The Pig group since 2004, is surrounded by elegant gardens designed by celebrated British gardener Rosemary Verey. Highlights include a laburnum walk, knot garden, Tuscan temple, and heritage archways. Guests can enjoy complimentary guided tours of the Kitchen Gardens. Room-only rates begin at £319 per night.
The awards ceremony was hosted by hotelier and TV presenter Alex Polizzi, known from Channel 5’s ‘The Hotel Inspector.’ Drawing on her own experience as a hotel owner, Polizzi emphasized the importance of exceptional service and adaptation in a challenging industry landscape. She remarked, “Our customers are king. Delivering outstanding service gives people a reason to choose us over other options. While design matters, it’s service that defines great hospitality.”
Other distinguished winners at the César Awards include iconic properties across the UK, from historic estates to seaside retreats and boutique city hotels, representing the very best in British lodging.
