Three Cotswolds Hotels Celebrate Top Honors in UK’s Prestigious César Awards

Three exceptional hotels in the Cotswolds have been celebrated among the UK’s best at the 2026 Good Hotel Guide César Awards, often hailed as the ‘Oscars’ of the British hotel industry.

The distinguished accolades were announced on November 18, showcasing the finest places to stay across the country. In the Cotswolds, Abbots Grange, The House of George W Davies, and The Pig each secured coveted César Awards in distinct categories.

Abbots Grange, a charming adult-only bed and breakfast nestled in a 14th-century monastic building in Worcestershire, was awarded the title of Most Romantic Hotel in the UK. Steeped in history, this property once hosted luminaries such as Claude Monet, Oscar Wilde, and William Morris. Guests enjoy the enchanting Great Hall, featuring a grand vaulted ceiling and cosy fireside seating, with prices starting at £315 per night on a bed and breakfast basis.

Just steps away in Broadway, The House of George W Davies earned the Best Foodie Hotel accolade. Opening in August 2025 after a meticulous three-year transformation by retail visionary George Davies, this boutique hotel artfully combines contemporary style with original charm. Its Moda restaurant, led by chef James Wilson, offers a Nordic-inspired take on locally sourced British cuisine, catering thoughtfully to vegan diets. Rates begin at £250 per night with breakfast included.

Further afield in the picturesque village of Barnsley, The Pig in the Cotswolds captured the César for Best Hotel with Gardens. This 17th-century country house hotel, part of the acclaimed Pig group since 2004, is surrounded by historic gardens designed by legendary British gardener Rosemary Verey. Guests can enjoy features such as a laburnum walk, knot garden, and Tuscan temple, alongside a complimentary guided tour of the Kitchen Gardens. Rooms start from £319 per night.

The César Awards ceremony was hosted by renowned hotelier and TV personality Alex Polizzi, star of Channel 5’s The Hotel Inspector. Polizzi, herself a hotel owner, offered valuable advice on navigating today’s challenges in hospitality, emphasizing the importance of exceptional service and customer focus over design alone.

Highlighting the nationwide scope of the awards, the 2026 César winners included a diverse array of accommodations—from historic estates and countryside retreats to seaside escapes and unique pubs with breweries and farm shops.

This year’s edition of The Good Hotel Guide features over 700 hotels across the UK, with 58 fresh entries for 2026. The guide is curated through a combination of expert inspections and reader feedback, ensuring an authentic and up-to-date resource for discerning travelers.
