The blaze erupted late Wednesday night, around 10pm on June 11, in a field behind Over Farm near the Over and Highnam area. Despite continuous efforts, the fire remains active as of Thursday afternoon, June 12.
Gloucestershire Fire and Rescue Service confirmed that thousands of tonnes of household rubbish are ablaze over a 30 by 20 metre area. Four fire engines were initially deployed overnight to tackle the flames, with two engines and a water carrier still stationed at the scene this evening.
Authorities have urged local residents to keep their doors and windows closed to avoid smoke inhalation during the ongoing operation. The fire service units responding include crews from Gloucester North, Gloucester South, Cheltenham East, and Cheltenham West.
