Alison Hammond, beloved presenter of This Morning, has candidly shared the secret behind her remarkable 11-stone weight loss. The key to her transformation? Reducing her intake of a specific sugary treat.
Over the last five years, Alison has prioritized her fitness and wellbeing. She began working with a personal trainer and adopted reformer Pilates — a workout favored by stars like David Beckham and Harry Styles. This lifestyle shift helped her to change her approach to food, particularly sugary snacks.
In a recent Radio Times interview, Alison revealed, “I had a bit of a childish mentality when it came to food — especially toffees. Now, I limit myself to just a couple a day.” Her change in mindset was driven not just by aesthetics but by health concerns. With a family history of type 2 diabetes — her mother suffered from the condition — Alison was alarmed when doctors diagnosed her as pre-diabetic, meaning her blood sugar levels were higher than normal but not yet diabetic.

Speaking with Women’s Health, she shared, “When I found out I was pre-diabetic, I realized I had to get serious. The sweets and fatty foods had to go.” Alison now enjoys “some sugar here and there,” especially as her body responds well to regular exercise — which she does four times a week through strength training, Pilates, and walking. She enthuses about reformer Pilates, calling it “brilliant” for flexibility and strength.
Her commitment to fitness is evident. “If I miss a few sessions with my trainer, I notice immediately,” she says. Alongside exercise, Alison has incorporated relaxation techniques, such as playing soothing music to aid sleep and using a sleep tracker to monitor her rest.
Reflecting on her journey, Alison expresses pride in her new shape. “I love it. I still have areas I’m conscious of, like my arms and tummy, but I can wear clothes I never thought I’d be able to. Honestly, I feel like a bombshell.”
