Theo James, who stars as Duke Eddie Horniman in Netflix’s popular series The Gentlemen, has responded with humour to circulating rumours that Meghan Markle might be appearing in the show.
The second season of The Gentlemen premiered on 3 September, following Duke Eddie, a former British Army captain, as he becomes increasingly involved in the criminal underworld. Amidst ongoing speculation about whether Meghan Markle will return to acting in the show’s upcoming third season, Theo James addressed the rumours during a recent red carpet interview with Extra TV.
When asked about Meghan’s potential involvement, James gave a tongue-in-cheek reply: “No. Prince Harry is playing one of my love interests. So that’s the Meghan Markle thing.”

This is not the first time James has commented on the speculation. In a conversation with Town and Country magazine, he took a more straightforward stance, simply stating: “No.” He further described the rumours as “mainly a lot of hot air,” emphasising that the focus remains on promoting the current season, with plans for season three to follow.
Meghan Markle last appeared on screen nearly a decade ago in the American legal drama Suits, where she played Rachel Zane. Netflix UK scripted chief Manda Levin gave an ambiguous response about Markle’s possible return to acting on the platform last month, saying: “All bets are off.”
The timing of these rumours coincides with Meghan and Prince Harry’s recent return to the UK, marking their first permanent residence in six years. The couple have reportedly settled in the Cotswolds, with their children, Archie and Lilibet, now attending local schools. They arrived at Birmingham Airport last week via private aircraft before moving into a private non-royal residence.
