Yate Shopping Centre is celebrating its 60th anniversary by bringing back its beloved summer feature, The Beach, which will reopen on Friday, May 23 after undergoing a winter refurbishment.
The iconic Beach, located in the Centre’s Central Square, has been revitalized with new wooden sleepers added to mark the special anniversary. This year’s relaunch also features newly sponsored deck chairs provided by Abrahams Jewellers, who are commemorating their own 80th anniversary.
Andrew Lowrey, manager of Yate Shopping Centre, shared his excitement: “The Beach is always a summer favourite, and this year it plays a key role in our 60th anniversary events programme starting later this month. We’re especially thankful to Abrahams for sponsoring the deck chairs. They were one of our original tenants, alongside Meredith’s, when the Centre opened back in 1965. We have a fantastic line-up of events planned for the summer holidays, with some special activities during half-term that everyone can enjoy.”

Half-term festivities include a Diamond Wall Art day on Tuesday, May 27, where children can create colourful pictures using wax crayons, felt tips, and decorative gems to take home. On Thursday, May 29, Party Peeps returns with a full day of fun entertainment, including games, giveaways, bubble machines, and more.
Both events will be held from 11am to 3pm at The Beach in Central Square.
